Expanding the Certification of Our Cement Portfolio




As part of our long-term commitment to improving the quality of our products, we have expanded their range of applications. Following a successful certification process, we obtained three new certificates in December last year, confirming that selected CEMMAC cements also meet the requirements of the higher 52.5 N strength class.

Cement Certification According to STN EN 197-1

The certification was carried out by the independent certification body Technical and Testing Institute for Construction (TSÚS) in accordance with the requirements of STN EN 197-1, the European standard defining the properties and classification of common cements.

The new certificates apply to the following products in our portfolio:

CEM I 42.5 R → additionally certified as CEM I 52.5 N
CEM II/A-S 42.5 N and 42.5 R → additionally certified as 52.5 N
CEM II/A-LL 42.5 N and 42.5 R → additionally certified as 52.5 N

It is important to emphasize that this does not represent any change to the products themselves or to their composition. Our cements remain technologically identical, manufactured using the same production process and maintaining the same consistent quality. The new certification confirms their performance reserve and officially allows them to be declared within a broader range of strength classes.

What Do the 42.5 and 52.5 Strength Classes Mean?

First, let us explain what these strength class designations mean (it is a question we are often asked by colleagues).
Strength classes are defined by STN EN 197-1 and indicate the compressive strength achieved by cement after 28 days of curing.

42.5 MPa – standard strength class for general construction applications
52.5 MPa – higher strength class providing greater performance reserves

The letter following the number indicates the rate of early strength development:

R (Rapid) – high early strength development
N (Normal) – normal early strength development

The new certification does not change the product itself—it expands the ways in which it can be specified and applied. In practice, it provides:

-greater flexibility when offering cement solutions to customers,
-broader application possibilities across different types of construction projects,
-independent confirmation of the consistently high quality of our products.

The Result of Long-Term Efforts

This achievement reflects the consistent quality of our production, rigorous process control, and close cooperation between our production, laboratory, and quality assurance teams. The certification also serves as independent verification that our cements comply with the more demanding requirements defined by the standard.

Obtaining three new certificates for the higher 52.5 N strength class marks another important milestone in the development of our product portfolio. It further strengthens CEMMAC's position as a reliable cement manufacturer committed to quality, consistency, and technical excellence.
