Employee training is an investment in both workplace safety and the quality of our work.
Training accompanies us throughout our working lives. Some training helps us develop our knowledge and skills, while other training is a necessary requirement for performing specific work activities. That is why CEMMAC places great emphasis on employee training and development.
Training is governed by several pieces of legislation, with the most important being the Labour Code and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act. Employers are required to provide employees with the necessary training and instruction according to the nature of their work and workplace.
What types of training do we provide?
At CEMMAC, we provide training in areas such as occupational health and safety, fire protection, working at heights and working with electrical equipment. This training is provided by our internal OHS specialists.
Another important category is legally required training, which is necessary for carrying out specific professional activities. Depending on the type of work, this may include:
-initial training
-recurrent training
-update training
The duration of initial training depends on the specific activity. It may take one day or several weeks. For some courses, a medical examination or proof of practical experience may also be required. After successfully completing the training, an employee receives the relevant licence, certificate or other document confirming their professional competence.
Recurrent training
Recurrent training is carried out at regular intervals, which vary depending on the type and level of risk associated with the work activity. Its purpose is to refresh employees' knowledge and ensure that they are familiar with current requirements and safe working procedures.
Update training
For some types of professional licences, employees are also required to complete update training. If the prescribed period is not met, the licence may expire and the employee may no longer perform the relevant activity until the required qualification has been renewed.
Monitoring the validity of licences
At CEMMAC, we keep records of completed training and monitor the validity of individual licences through the HR department. We make sure that employees perform professional activities only with valid documents and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
If a licence expires while an employee is on sick leave or caring for a family member, the required training cannot be completed during this period. It must be renewed after the employee returns to work, in accordance with the requirements applicable to the specific activity.
Training is part of working time
Training related to an employee's work is provided at the employer's expense and generally takes place during working hours. At CEMMAC, training is held at our training centre, at individual workplaces or at external training organisations.
An important rule is that an employee must not perform an activity for which they do not have the required training or valid licence. Likewise, a manager must not assign such work to an employee who does not have the necessary qualification.
Training is therefore not just a legal requirement. It is an important part of our work and helps ensure that our employees are well-prepared, qualified and, above all, safe.
