Reconstruction of Internal Roads at CEMMAC Continues
In 2024, CEMMAC launched the reconstruction of a section of its internal road network that had deteriorated over time, making it difficult for heavy vehicles and machinery to operate efficiently. The project focused on a 450-metre stretch extending from the old crusher to the end of the former garage area and was divided into two phases.
The first phase covered approximately 330 metres and began in November 2024. Concrete supplied by CEMMAC's own batching plants was used to construct a 20 cm thick concrete pavement. New kerbs were installed to improve stormwater drainage and protect the road edges from damage. The road was designed with a slight crossfall, allowing rainwater to drain naturally into the roadside channel.
The second phase was carried out in January 2025 during the annual plant shutdown, when traffic within the facility was at a minimum. The former substrate storage area was redeveloped by removing reinforced concrete blocks and expanding the storage area from 340 m² to 550 m². Four large storage bays, each 4 metres high, were constructed using precast concrete LEGO® blocks, providing greater storage capacity and operational flexibility.
Together, the two phases delivered approximately 4,300 m² of new concrete surfaces. Class CB III concrete was selected for the project, achieving the required strength within 14 days—an important advantage given the tight schedule and winter weather conditions. Following concrete placement, expansion joints were saw-cut and sealed with asphalt to ensure long-term durability.
The reconstruction project will improve the safety and efficiency of material handling and vehicle movements throughout the plant while extending the service life of this essential part of CEMMAC's internal infrastructure.
